INTRODUCTION

 

The Senior Championships 2018 Shell V-Power will be held on different Saturdays during the current year, and will be divided into two categories: drivers up to 75kg, and drivers of 75kg and above.

This year, for the first time, the championship will be divided into two stages. The champion of the Spring Trophy will be the driver who obtains the higher score in the first 4 races of the season.

Likewise, the champion of the Autumn Trophy will be the best driver of the last 4 races of the year.

The overall winner will be the driver who gets the highest score throughout the 8 championship races.

The competition calendar is as follows:

- Spring Trophy:

1st race: Madrid, Saturday, February 24

2nd race: Las Rozas, Saturday, March 17

3rd race: Madrid (reverse), Saturday, April 21

4th race: Las Rozas (endurance), Saturday, May 5

5th race: Madrid (two tracks), Saturday, June 9

6th race: Las Rozas (reverse), Saturday, September 22

7th race: Madrid (endurance), Saturday, October 6

REQUIREMENTS

- 15 years old minimum.

- It is not a requirement to wear homologated clothing, so drivers can use their own clothes or those provided by the organization, but it is required in all cases to wear race suit, helmet and neck brace.

 

Registrations will be made by confirmation to the following e-mail address (places are limited):  cursos@kartcsainz.com

This e-mail must contain the following information:

Name and surname

Age

Weight including clothing (racing suit and helmet), to determine in which category will the driver compete. This weight will be verified the day of the race, and drivers will be changed of category if necessary.

Price for each race will be 42 euros for members and 60 euros for non-members. This amount will not be refunded neither in case of suspension from the race, nor in case of advance payment of half or full season.

 

SCHEDULE

- It will be the same for both categories, on the stipulated saturdays, starting at 8:30 am and finishing at 11:30 am, unless there are exceptional delays.

 

POINT SCORING SYSTEM

The scoring system will be as follows:

First place: 20 points.

Second place: 16 points.

Third place: 14 points.

Fourth place: 10 points.

Fifth place: 8 points. And from 6th to 12th places, scoring in descending order until 1 point. 

Fastest lap: 2 extra points.

Pole position: 2 extra points.

 

RACE FORMAT

The maximum number of drivers per round will be 15. Groups will be made according to the number of drivers registered. Competition will have the following structure:

-   Warm – up: 12 minutes per group, non-scoring.

-   Qualifying round: 12 minutes per group, each driver with his/her assigned kart.

-   Final: 25-lap race starting on the grid (rolling start). Classification will be based upon race order, being the winner the first driver who completes 25 laps. Only the best 15 race times will participate in this race. Would there be more drivers registered, there would be a non-scoring final for them. 

Endurance: 

Qualifying round: 12 minutes per group, each driver with his/her assigned kart. There will not be warm – up round.

Final: 45-lap race starting on the grid. Classification will be based upon race order, being the winner the first to complete the 45 laps. Only the best 15 race times will participate in this race. Would there be more drivers registered, there would be a non-scoring final for them. 

Grand Final:

Last race of the championship, and the most decisive. Drivers will be able to double their score, as this will be two races in one: we will have two qualifying rounds and two finals, one in each direction of the track (and both with the usual scoring system). 

Qualifying round: 10 minutes per group, each driver with his/her assigned kart. There will not be warm – up round.

Final: 15-lap race starting on the grid. Classification will be based upon race order, being the winner the first to complete the 15 laps. Only the best 15 race times will participate in this race. Would there be more drivers registered, there would be a non-scoring final for them. 

Qualifying round (reverse): 10 minutes per group, each driver with his/her assigned kart. There will not be warm – up round.

Final (reverse): 15-lap race starting on the grid (rolling start). Classification will be based upon race order, being the winner the first to complete the 15 laps. Only the best 15 race times will participate in this race. Would there be more drivers registered, there would be a non-scoring final for them.

 

ON-TRACK INSTRUCTIONS

• Karts are assigned by draw.

• All karts are tested before every race by our qualified personnel. Karts will only be changed in case of technical problems, FOR NO OTHER REASON, and always with previous inspection by our team of the mechanical problem.  

• In the event of a change of kart, the driver will be assigned a spare one, being assigned no longer by draw but by race control.

• Seatbelts and neck braces are mandatory for the race.

• Any claim must be made less than five minutes after the incident, and it will be race control’s duty to decide if it is applicable.

• Briefing session is mandatory for all drivers. In case of non-attendance, the driver will not be authorized to take part on the race. 

* If the driver does not follows this instructions, he/she will be excluded from the race.

 

PENALTIES

-    Physical or verbal aggression against any track marshall or race director will be punished with the immediate suspension from the race. This suspension will also apply to any unsporting behaviour towards other drivers.

-    Track marshalls will be in charge of organizing and monitoring the race, so they will be spread all around the track and they will solve any dispute on the track. It is absolutely forbidden to enter the track during the race without their previous authorization. Any decision that involves a penalty, will be previously analized by race control.

-    Any unsporting conduct, such as crashes or any inappropriate maneuver, will be penalized. 

-    These actions will imply the following penalties: - Minor penalty: 5 seconds remote control slowdown. - Severe penalty: 15 seconds remote control slowdown. 

- Major penalty: Race suspension.

Failing to observe all race flags indicated previously in the briefing session, as well as not following any other rule explained in such session, will be considered a minor penalty. Any unsporting action that leads to the loss of position of any driver will be considered a severe penalty.  All this actions will be subject to race control’s judgement.

All these penalties will be controled by the track marshalls through the use of a shutdown system.
